What antidepressants can I take with Contrave (naltrexone/bupropion)?

It is important that your medical provider review any antidepressants you are currently taking before prescribing Contrave®. Contrave contains the antidepressant Wellbutrin® (bupropion), so if you are already taking Wellbutrin, it is not recommended to add Contrave. Depending on your medical history and medications you are taking, the combination of Contrave with other antidepressants may increase the risk for seizures. Certain antidepressants known as monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOis) (e.g. selegiline, isocarboxazid, phenelzine, and tranylcypromine) are contraindicated in combination with Contrave. If you have recently stopped taking a MAOi, you must wait at least 2 weeks before starting Contrave. Lastly, if you are currently taking Contrave, make sure to discuss this with your medical provider before taking any new antidepressant medication.
