What’s the average weekly weight loss on Wegovy (semaglutide)?

The average weekly weight loss on semaglutide or Wegovy® will vary from one patient to the next. Importantly, Wegovy is used in combination with lifestyle changes such as a reduced calorie diet and increased physical activity to promote weight loss. In one study, people lost an average of about 6% of their starting weight after using Wegovy for 12 weeks, about 10% of their starting weight after 20 weeks of Wegovy, and about 15% after one year (a little more than 0.5 lb per week). When starting a Wegovy prescription, patients begin at the lowest dose (0.25 mg weekly) and gradually increase every four weeks to a maximum dose of 2.4 mg weekly as long as the medication is well-tolerated. For some patients, weight loss may not start until they reach a higher dose of the medication.
