Can you take Zepbound (tirzepatide) while pregnant?

No, you cannot take Zepbound® for weight loss while pregnant. Zepbound was found to cause fetal harm in studies with animals, and it is not known whether Zepbound is safe to take during pregnancy in humans. If you are planning on becoming pregnant, it is generally recommended to stop Zepbound for approximately 2 months prior to conception, but it is important you discuss your plans with your medical provider. Birth control pills (oral contraceptives) may not work well while taking Zepbound while your body is adjusting to the effects of the medication. It is recommended to use another type of birth control for 4 weeks after starting Zepbound as well as an additional 4 weeks after each dosage increase.
