Can I split my Saxenda (liraglutide) dose?

It is generally not recommended to split the doses of Saxenda®. Even though the Saxenda pens are able to administer doses in different increments (0.6 mg, 1.2 mg, 1.8 mg, 2.4 mg and 3 mg), you shouldn’t take Saxenda twice a day. By taking a single dose daily, it helps ensure more consistent blood levels of the medication. Furthermore, once a day dosing is how Saxenda for weight loss was studied in clinical trials and approved by the FDA. If you find that you are not tolerating a higher dose of the medication due to side effects, rather than splitting the dose to take Saxenda twice a day, you should discuss this with your doctor. As is the case with splitting your dose, it’s not recommended to skip a dose of Saxenda, either. Learn more about how Form Health doctors prescribe Saxenda to help patients achieve their weight loss goals.
