Can you skip a week of Wegovy?

No, you can’t skip a week of Wegovy® without detracting from the effectiveness of the medication. Wegovy (semaglutide) is an injectable medication that is taken once weekly, and skipping a week of semaglutide is not advised. This is because the medication has a half-life - or the time it takes for 50% of the drug to be removed from your body - of seven days. Taking Wegovy every seven days will thereby ensure adequate drug levels are maintained. However, if you do miss a dose of Wegovy, take the medication as soon as you remember, but only if your next dose is more than two days away. Otherwise, plan to take it on your usual injection day so long as it has not been more than 2 weeks since your last injection. If you skipped more than a week of Wegovy and it has been longer than two weeks, contact your healthcare provider for further instruction, as you may need to restart the medication again at a lower dose.
