How long does Wegovy stay in your system?

To determine how long a medication stays in the body, we need to know the half-life.  The half-life is the time it takes for 50% of the drug to be removed.  The half-life of Wegovy® is 7 days which means that if you take the maximum dose (2.4 mg) after 7 days there will be 50% (1.2 mg) remaining in your body.  Therefore, it takes about 7 weeks for it to completely be removed from the body.  Wegovy is considered a long-acting medication and only requires weekly dosing to ensure adequate drug levels are maintained.
